Fed Up! how to Engage and manage Anger?

Anger is an important part of being human. It allows us to defend what is ours to hold der and protect. It allows us to be outraged at injustices and inequalities which are rampant in the world we live in. Part of the problem is that we now find ourselves in a world where there are so many issues to be angry at I would not even know where to begin.

Let us not look back in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness.

James Thurber

Anger as I often say is a secondary emotion. There can be a gender difference in anger responses. For women anger can come from a values or trust violation, while for men it is often a sense of being out of control. This is a generalisation and they are never true.

So what sort of things may make me angry? What are the triggers? Well this will be different for everyone but a big clue is emotional safety. Do you feel like you are unsafe….Could you feel unsafe and not be aware of it. As the quote says it is about awareness not looking back or forward but being here and now with your anger.
